Omaha8aire is a solitaire game that might help you to better see the overall picture regarding the selection of starting hands when up against multiple opponents. Especially if you have played a bit but don’t seem to be doing a well as the think you should, Omaha8aire may help you “see the light.”

For this game you need table space, a regular deck of cards, some chips of three different colors (or coins of three different denominations), a writing pad, and a pen or pencil. One rack of chips of three colors will do fine, or if you don’t have that, you can probably get by with eight to ten chips of each color (or eight to ten coins of each denomination).

Step 1. Shuffle the deck well and deal out four five-card common-hand boards. Set these 20 cards aside (in four piles) without looking at them.
Step 2. Deal the remaining 32 cards into eight four-card hands (face down).
Step 3. You’re going to select what you think are the best two hands of the eight. And you’re going to do this in less than a minute, or hopefully in less than thirty seconds.
To do this, look at each of the eight hands, one at a time, turning each hand face down again within a second or a few seconds after looking at it.
