Cruyff mi chiese: come ti chiami? «Jorge Valdano». E quanti anni hai? «Ventuno». «Ragazzino, a 21 anni a Cruyff si dà del lei».
Qui post del 2014 leggo che è proprio 2.5% lo scam
https://www.cardschat.com/f10/pokers...charge-253761/
for those of you unaware pokerstars has brought in something new......
it is a 2.5% currency converter charge.....
so if like me who would mainly play games in $$$ when i deposit in euros and have it changed to dollars i will get charged 2.5% and then if and when i decide to withdraw they will charge another 2.5% to convert it back again......
seems a bit harsh
150 su 6k torna esatto 2.5%
Ex poker players just want to have fun moving cbet beyond poker

Ma il 2.5% non dovrebbe applicarsi ai cashout in euro.
Non apro ps.com da un po' ma mi pare si potesse avere nel cashier l'account euro
No adjustments apply for any deposits or cashouts that are performed in a supported account currency (US Dollars, Euro, British Pounds or Canadian Dollars).

If you read my prior posts you will see that I agree completely that how they communicated this was poor, and that certainly should be an area to focus on when calmer heads prevail so that future changes are announced in a much better (and clearer) manner.
Do I think this change is a harbinger of doom? No, because I always regarded the zero cost exchange feature at Stars as an unexpected feature that pretty much no other sites offer. Try swapping money from US to another currency in the same paypal account and see what happens.
They had people who were exploiting the situation and using Stars as a bank, and this was Stars way of dealing with it. The alternative would be for them to remove the exchange feature entirely, and I doubt that would make anyone happy.
As is, most people can still get appropriate cost free exchanges without issue if they use common sense (and perhaps this will force some to start using it), and I do feel bad for those in countries (ie: non Dollars, Euro, Pounds)that no longer get the exchange service for free, but I do not think any other site offers it for free as well. Well, Click and Pay did as an e-wallet a while ago, but they are now out of business...

no fees apply when you convert within the client, only when there is a currency exchange when you deposit or withdraw. You do lose a cent for each transaction within client however.
I am not certain but I gather it goes like this. Lets say your preferred currency is usd and you join a Euro game. You lose a penny each time you do this. I also assume when you leave the table with any amount or itm in a sng/tournament, you will also lose a penny when the money gets put back to your usd account.
If you add a currency in the client so now you have two currencies. You change usd to euro. You get euro but lose a pennydue to rounding. Than you can join euro games using your newly exchanged euro money without losing a penny per game.

The only people who are genuinely screwed are those who were able to cash out in their native currency (that is not US/Cdn dollars, Euros or Pounds) and were able to have Pokerstars covert it for them at no cost (for a check - a bank wire the bank will charge the fee anyway).

People who live in countries that do not use US/Cdn/Euros/Pounds as their native currency need to do a currency exchange at some point to get money from their real world account into Stars or from Stars into their real world account.
For some players (Canada/Euros/Pound people) to avoid this fee they need to use the Pokerstars internal client to do exchanges before a withdraw, and their play has to be enough to merit those trades.

I don't think I've ever lost out on £200 in a more frustrating way than accidentally cashing out $10k to GBP, rather than converting it first.
Grrrrrrrrr

Converting within Stars has no cost. If you deposit or withdraw to a bank or e-wallet in a different currency than the Stars cashier then you will pay a fee.
If you deposit in Euros then create a euro cashier in Stars and deposit there and convert it to US (within the Stars cashier) to play at the US tables. When you want to cash out Euros then convert the appropriate amount of dollars first within the Stars cashier and take it out from your Euro cashier.
Remember, you're lucky. If you're a winning poker player, that means you probably have an I.Q. over average, you have a smart brain and you found this Job wich is a dream for a lot of people, i think that you should consider yourself lucky only cause of this. (Rebellz)
If you want to play MTTs for a living, you better either put in a ton of volume, play really well, or be prepared to be a slave to variance (and nobody’s actually prepared for that).
